| Starting off with a little of that mountain scenery that defies a camera to capture it's grandeur...
| |
| This is basically a pay toilet stop North of Durango on 550. It's called Echo Something or Other.
| |
| The pseudo-basenji auxiliary dog seemed to like the red rock...
| |
| ...as did the main cow dog.
| |
| More gratuitous grandeur.
| |
| This is so wrong...
| |
| So _that_ explains the smudge on the camera lens in the next several pictures!
| |
| This is Silverton as you descend on 550. I think it's one of the most unspoiled towns in the San Juans.
| |
| Everybody wants a better view!
| |
| We decided that since the crew was getting rowdy, now was a good time to explore a forest access road.
| |
| The dogs scampered through the cool pine forest before the auxiliary pseudo-basenji settled in for a little stick chewing session.
| |
| Some gratuitous flora.
| |
| The auxiliary pseudo-basenji waves "hi!", with some guidance from Sophia, as we prepare to begin Black Bear pass. (This picture is just before he bit her, struggled free, and then ran off...)
| |
| While Sophia was chasing down the errant auxiliary pseudo-basenji I took the opportunity to take a picture of a couple of cool Toyotas that were also going over the pass. The FJ was mildly lifted and sported a tubular rear bumper, here partially obscured by the auxiliary pseudo-basenji nose print picked up by the camera lens earlier in day. The first generation 4Runner behind it had a solid axle swap with Alcans and 35s.

| The start of Black Bear with a couple of small waterfalls.
